General Liability in Sacramento, CA
Before a Sacramento GC lets your crew mobilize, they'll want a GL certificate naming them as additional insured. General liability covers injury and property damage your work causes to others, including completed operations. We write it for contractors working across the city, shop it among multiple carriers, and issue certificates same-day in most cases.
Built for how Sacramento County contractors work
Commercial work in Sacramento comes with real paperwork. Subcontracts on larger downtown projects typically spell out $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate, additional-insured endorsements, primary and non-contributory wording, and waiver of subrogation, and the GC's risk team checks every line. A certificate missing one endorsement can hold your crew at the gate. We read the insurance exhibit before we quote, place the policy with a carrier whose forms actually match it, and keep certificates moving as new jobs come in.
Tell us your trade, payroll, and typical jobs once. We take it to multiple carriers, come back with real options, and handle the certificates from day one — when a GC needs proof of coverage this afternoon, you call us and it's done.

General Liability in Sacramento — local FAQs
Yes. California has no statewide GL mandate for most contractors, but LLC licensees are the exception. Under Business and Professions Code 7071.19, an LLC must carry liability insurance of at least $1M if it has five or fewer persons of record, plus $100,000 for each additional person, capped at $5M. That's separate from what your GCs require, so the policy has to satisfy both the CSLB and your subcontracts. We'll set the limits so one policy covers both jobs.
Sacramento doesn't issue a general business license. Businesses operating in the city need a Business Operations Tax certificate instead, under City Code chapter 3.08. One place contractors run into it is the Temporary Construction Parking Permit, which requires a current BOT certificate. It isn't insurance, but it tends to get asked for in the same week as your GL certificate. Get the BOT certificate in place before the job starts, and when the GC wants proof of coverage, we'll send it, usually the same day.
